It's hard to find a better looking catalin radio!!

1939 Art Deco Pink Tom Thumb Catalin Radio

This is the best Pink Tom Thumb I have ever seen. It retains a very vibrant rose pink color. I only know of three other pink Tom Thumbs and they were all severely faded. This radio was made by the AUTOMATIC RADIO MFG Model 933 around 1938 and is known by collectors as the "Non-Deco Tom Thumb" Its’ dimensions are: 8"Wide x 6" high x 4deep". The condition of this radio is as follows. The radio has been cut polished to its original color of pink on the display surfaces(front, top, and sides), while the bottom was left unrestored showing a orange patina color. The bottom of the cabinet has a repair done to the chassis mounting screw hole areas. The repair work was localized to that area. This radio has a clearly visible mild tube burn on the top. The dial foil is in great shape. The feet are all original and knobs are exact catalin reproductions made from old stock catalin. The grill cloth is correct period cloth. The dial window is a reproduction. The decal and back are reproductions. The pink color of the cabinet is NOT painted or colorized by a tinted clear coat. This is a very hard to come by set and is a favorite among collectors because of its small size. The radio does not play and so you don't have to worry about any further heat damage. The asking price is $25K or best offer.

1939 Art Deco Butterscotch Tom Thumb Catalin Radio

This radio was made by the AUTOMATIC RADIO MFG Model 933 around 1938 and is known by collectors as the "Non-Deco Tom Thumb" The original color of this radio is alabaster white though as many of you know, it has patina’d to a nice butterscotch color. Its’ dimensions are: 8"Wide x 6" high x 4deep". The condition of this radio is as follows. This radio has a clearly visible tube burn on the top. The dial foil is a not in the greatest of shape but it is original. It has original Tom Thumb knobs though one has a split as seen on the dial. The grill cloth is correct period cloth. The dial window is original. The decal and back are reproductions. The back foot is original. The two front feet are catalin are machined duplicates of originals. They were made about five years ago and are already yellowing nicely though they are presently a lighter color than the cabinet. They will continue to change as all catalin does and will eventually match the cabinet patina. The cabinet has a repair done to the chassis mounting screw hole. The repair work was localized to that area. I pointed it out in the picture of the bottom center back edge. There is also a flea bite chip pointed out at the back bottom corner. This cabinet is NOT painted or clear coated on all of the display surfaces. This is a very hard to come by set and is a favorite among collectors because of its small size. The radio has been gone through and plays great though I would avoid leaving it on for very long. The asking price is $3500 or best offer.
